Library Services to Support Funding Applications and Research Projects: After - Increasing Visibility and Impact

After : Increasing Visibility and Impact

Many funders now require some form of public outreach/engagement as part of the proposal process.

This could take the form of a social media campaign, making a video that highlights outcomes of a research project for a public audience, and / or disseminating videos through youtube, vimeo, etc.

Costs can be included at application stage.

Using Social Media

Using social media can be time consuming. However, when used strategically it may help to increase the visibility of your research online.

Developing a social media strategy can help you:

  • identify and focus on the most appropriate tools and platforms, and avoid "wasting" your time
  • control your digital footprint to ensure social media adds to your professional reputation
  • track and monitor your social media impact to evaluate if it has a positive or negative effect on your overall impact goals

The Library can advise you on how to plan a social media strategy and some of the various tools and applications which may help you increase the visibility of your research.
