Open Access: OA Publishing Agreements - Eligibility

This guide introduces Open Access and Open Research. It includes information on open access publishing, methods of open research and how to meet funder open access/research requirements.

Open Access Publishing Agreements

The library is part of the IReL consortium. This group has negotiated a number of open access publishing agreements with a set of publishers. In these agreements, the Library has paid for the open access publishing charges for authors.

3 Step Eligibility Check - OA Publishing Agreements

UCD Researchers & Authors
The most common Open Access (OA) question we get in UCD Library is 'Does the library pay Article Processing Charges for open access journal articles?'

We recommend the steps below to find out if your article qualifies.

Step 1
Check if your journal title appears in IReL’s OA Publishing Agreements spreadsheet.

Step 2
Go to the publisher page on our OA Agreements Guide for that journal and find the inclusion criteria under Instructions for Authors (e.g. corresponding author status, article type etc.).

Tip - If your article is published by Elsevier, click on the Elsevier tabbed page on our guide.

Step 3
Consult our News and Quota Updates page to see if the OA Agreement is still active.

If you have questions about these agreements, contact our OA Publishing team at oapublishing@ucd.ie, or our Scholarly Communications Librarian, Jenny Collery jenny.collery@ucd.ie
