This Open Access book aims to provide a practical and useful guide that will help other institutions to start introducing Research Ethics effectively in their organizations. The European initiative ETHNA System has designed an ethics governance framework that can be implemented following specific guidelines and tools that can help different types of institutions to promote and generate responsible research and innovation.
- Toolbox to implement the ETHNA SystemA fundamental benefit provided by the ETHNA System is to ensure that Research & Innovation activities are financed and carried out in a responsible way. The ETHNA System does this by providing a system of supporting tools, which then helps to build trust among people, administrations, and organisations.

The Framework helps users understand the context in which they undertake a participatory process and guides them through mapping and addressing the ethical challenges and limitations that might arise. Tools and guidelines offer “actions” to be considered for ethical stakeholder participation before, during, and after the implementation of participatory processes. This framework document includes a useful glossary of terms. It was developed and written in the context of the Horizon 2020 project PRO-Ethics.
