Open Access Publishing Agreements: Cell Press

Discover the current open access publishing agreements in place, allowing options for publishing research open access at no cost to the author.

Agreement details

The agreement between IReL and Cell Press gives current staff and students at participating institutions:

  • Read access to current content from 14 selected Cell Press journals.
  • The ability to make articles accepted for publication in all hybrid Cell Press journals open access, without the author paying an article processing charge (APC).

Agreement period:  1 Jan 2024 – 31 Dec 2026.

OA quota per year: 22 articles (shared among the participating institutions).

Note: the agreement is back-dated to January 2024. Authors who have had eligible articles accepted for publication between January 2024 and August 2024 will be contacted to offer them the opportunity to convert their article to OA under the agreement.

What journals are included?

All hybrid Cell Press journals.

Instructions for authors

Eligible authors: The corresponding author must be affiliated with a participating institution at the time the article is accepted for publication. The corresponding author must ensure their correct affiliation details are known to the publisher. Requests to publish OA under the agreement are subject to approval by participating members.

Eligible article types: Case reports, Data in Briefs, Full-length articles, Micro-articles, Original software publication, Practice guidelines, Protocols, Review articles, Replication studies, Short communications, Short surveys, Video articles.

OA publishing license: if accepted for publication in the journals included in the Agreement, the corresponding author shall be offered the option of publishing open access under a Creative Commons license (CC BY or CC BY NC ND).
