Agreement details
The IReL-OUP open access publishing agreement allows eligible corresponding authors from UCD to publish original research and review articles open access upon publication at no extra cost.
Agreement period: 1 Jan 2021 – 31 Dec 2023.
UPDATE (27th February 2023): limited fund for OUP fully-open access journals has been used up for the remainder of the agreement. For OUP hybrid journals, 2023 allocation has been increased and it is expected to last until the end of 2023.
What journals are included?
All 84 OUP published open access journals and over 360 hybrid journals (subscription journals which include open access content) are included in the agreement. Note: 20 titles are subscription-only so do not currently offer open access.

Instructions for authors
Eligible authors: at the time of an article is accepted for publication, the corresponding author must be a current staff member or student of UCD.
OUP will invite eligible corresponding authors to make their articles open access on acceptance, subject to approval by UCD.
Eligible article types: research articles and reviews only. Excluded: book reviews, letters to editor etc.
OA publishing license: journals offer one or more of the following, depending on the journal: CC BY 4.0, CC BY-NC 4.0, and CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.
