This guide explains how to use the APA Style. It includes a short tutorial.

Music recording

Reference: Author(s) Last name, Initials. (Year of version used). Title of song [Description recorded by name of recording artist if different]. On Title of album. Label. (Year of original composition). URL

Example: Brown, P., & Rans, R. (1984). Material girl [Song recorded by Madonna]. On Like a Virgin. Sire Records.

In-Text-Citation:

  • Author(s) Last name (year)
  • (Author(s) Last name, year)      

Example:

  • Madonna sings "Material Girl" (Brown & Rans, 1984)...
  • Madonna sings the Brown and Rand (1984) song "Material Girl"...

 

Note: for recordings with an original publication or composition date and a later recorded date, include both dates in the in-text-citation, e.g. (1801/2012).
